Name:
coifCalibration Observation Interface Files (COIF) are files used in the Calibration uplink System (CUS). They are very similar to the POF in both format and content, with the presence of some extra keywords and some alternative values of existing keywords. They are used as input to Calibration Observation Batch Import Tool (COBIT) to produce CMDBS for merging into the uplink MDB.
Each calibration observation should have an associated COIF. Each COIF can also be associated to one or more ICSs, and hence linked to the ICS templates. Note that the ICS parameters are stored in the COIF itself (COIF contains ICS template number plus the required parameters).
These files are kept as they are. For further details see chapter: File COB.

SWS
The SWS COIF files have been delivered by the Spectrometer (LWS/SWS) ISG and a script called get_location.csh is used to extract a COIF file for a certain revolution or observation.
This script uses the swscaldetails table to find the correct COIF file for a particular revolution or observation.
A script caldetails.pl has been used to extract the COIFs from the ISGs repositories and they have been manually copied to the directory /pmadata/, where all linked and viewable data resides, and ordered by file type and instrument.
