The Proposal Data Entry Centre is ready for Phase 2 data entry of the Supplemental Call!
PDEC will be open for about two months, from 16 December 1996 until 28 February 1997. Visitors as well as remote users of PGA are welcome during this period to specify full details of their recommended observations. With the invitation to Phase 2 data entry sent out to observers, information is given given of to make best use of the remote login facility. Note that no ESA support for travel or subsistence is foreseen.
As in the past, US observers will enter their data through IPAC.
Open Time PIs (or the persons designed by PIs) are being contacted via Helpdesk and informed about their scheduled visit at PDEC. Because of the time limits, Open Time proposal entry will have a rigid calendar: In only about two months, all recommended observations in the Supplemental Call will have to be entered. Therefore, PDEC's capacity as a remote login facility has been increased such that even with 30 visitors working in parallel, additional observers can use PGA remotely for data entry.
Modifications to programmes from the Main Call will go on in parallel as needed or required by observers.
To make the visit as efficient as possible, PDEC visitors should prepare in advance all the observation details like coordinates, proper motions (if applicable), target and background fluxes, instrumental parameters, ... Updated and detailed information, of what to prepare and how to prepare it, is available on the anonymous ftp account: ftp.estec.esa.nl in the directory: pub/iso/supp_call.
Any questions are welcome at the ISO Helpdesk: helpdesk@iso.vilspa.esa.es.
In view of the special procedures required, a SOC resident astronomer will be assigned to each proposal containing polarisation observations as well as to each ToO proposal.
