Next: 3.3 Ramp linearization (PHT-P, Up: 3. Derive SPD level Previous: 3.1 Discarding read-outs and

3.2 Discarding saturated read-outs

synopsis:  (1) statistical uncertainty increase due to decrease of effective integration time, (2) systematic uncertainty decrease by removing anomalous data points.

limitations and applicability:
none

description:
Removal of a read-out plus remaining read-outs in a ramp as soon as this read-out falls above a certain threshold level in Volts.

purpose correction:
Above the threshold voltage the voltage for each read-out does not increase according to the photocurrent but remains at the same voltage level or drops. These read-outs have to be removed.

uncertainty/noise introduced:
The effective integration time decreases with the fraction of the saturated read-outs that have been removed. The loss in S/N depends on each specific case - fortunately only a small fraction of all ISOPHOT data need this correction.

auxillary data:
Threshold voltage levels for each detector subsystem.
