CAM04 (Spectral Observation) allows imaging in the specific wavelength ranges of emission or absorption features, e.g. bands of dust or complex molecules, as well as broad lines. The spectrum is observed by obtaining a series of spectral points. A complete CVF spectrum takes at most 115 steps in the short wavelength channel and 85 x 2 steps in the long wavelength channel. The spectrophotometric mode cannot be used with beam-switching or in a celestial raster.
Examples of this mode are: line mapping of one line, with typically 5 steps, or broad spectral feature mapping, with typically 10 steps, with corresponding measurements on a background reference field.
