The keyword ID_OBS

This flag is in use for several system's in the down-link and up-link part of ISO. For example the off line processing group and the data distribution system reads ID_OBS. Further it is important for the mission planer, and so for the scheduling of your observations.

The ID_OBS must uniquely identify each individual measurement and must identify the proposal ID and observation ID. The ID_OBS has a number of 10 fields for numerical and upper case alphabetic symbols. The last two field names must be `_A', so that 8 symbols are still free.

Please use one of the fields no 6, 7 and 8 to enter a unique number for your measurement. For example measurement no. 13 should read `013'. However, this number does not indicate that there is a kind of order in the time sequence of your observations. Observation with an assigned number `001' can of course be scheduled months later than observations with a number `008' in the ID_OBS fields 6-8:.

The remaining fields shall be used to uniquely identify the proposer and observer ID. Those fields should be in upper-case alphabetic order and can be the first letters of your observer ID. For example Mr. Smith with obs_id MSMITH should enter for his measurement identified as `011':

ID_OBS = MSMIA011_A

In case you have more than one proposal you may specify: `JHOUGA' and `JHOUGB'.

We understand that this must read quite confusingly so let us try to give another 2 examples. Let us take again Mr Smith having 2 proposals with PROP_ID : `MSMITH_YSO' and `MSMITH_AGN', for his proposal on young stellar objects and active galactic nuclei. Observer Smith could use for his observation no.: 10 in YSO for example:

ID_OBS = MSMIY010_A

and for his observation no.11 in his AGN proposal

ID_OBS = MSMIA911_A

In case you have trouble with this keyword let us support you individually.
