We present results of a survey of a number of X-ray emitting young stars in the Rho Ophiuchi cloud observed with ISOCAM as part of the Open Time proposal, XRAYDUST (PI T. Montmerle), which investigates the effects of X-ray irradiation on the circumstellar and interstellar dust surrounding these objects.
Our sample consists of 17 young stars, ranging from Class I to III. We present spectral energy distributions (SEDs) based on our narrow band filter data (LW5, LW6, and LW7) for these stars, incorporating other ISOCAM filter data (LW2 and LW3, from the survey by Nordh et al.), ground-based data and IRAS fluxes where available. We discuss the effect of X-ray heating of the circumstellar dust as a contributory factor to the previously unknown mid-infrared excess of some sources, as well as the question of extended emission around certain sources in terms of X-ray irradiation of the closeby interstellar dust.
