The LWS: Performance and Astronomical Highlights

Peter E. Clegg

Queen Mary & Westfield College, London, UK

Like the other ISO instruments, the LWS presented astronomers with new diagnostic tools for exploring the physical, chemical and kinematic conditions in astronomical objects. The programme ranged from the solar system to ultraluminous galaxies. In this talk, I present scientific highlights representing the unique contributions made by the LWS to astronomy.
