World Wide Web and Electronic Access

To speed up the flow of information to proposers, the Science Operations Centre is putting ISO-related information on an anonymous ftp server at ESTEC. Available information currently includes the Guaranteed Time catalogue of observations, news relating to the Observers' Manuals and a copy of IRPSS, the ISO Remote Proposal Submission Software. To access this information, ftp to ftp://ftp.estec.esa.nl/pub/iso/ with the username "anonymous" and enter your full e-mail address as the password. ISO information is held in /pub/iso and its subdirectories.

We are also working on putting data on a World Wide Web server. Our HomePage can be accessed at URL http://isosa2.estec.esa.nl:8223/. While the WWW server is in an experimental stage, it contains copies of the ISO INFO and pointers to ESRIN for the GT catalogue, and IPAC (the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center on the Caltech campus in Pasadena, CA).

Other World Wide Web servers are being set up to support the community. The French ISO centre has set one up with the HomePage http://wwwiso.ias.fr/. IPAC, in order to serve the US-based astronomical community, has set up parallel network services to those available at ESTEC. The IPAC HomePage for World-Wide Web access is at URL http://www.ipac.caltech.edu/. This HomePage provides access to ISO documentation and software services, as well as other software tools based on IRAS data useful during ISO proposal preparation. The IPAC anonymous FTP server ftp.ipac.caltech.edu offers in the directory /pub/iso a mirror to the holdings of /pub/iso on the ESTEC server ftp.estec.esa.nl.
