Previous: Proposal Data Entry Centre
In principle, once the Phase 2 data entry for successful Supplemental Call
proposals has been completed, all programmes can be executed as entered.
However, the need for further tuning-up of programmes cannot be excluded.
It is, however, expected that there will be much less need for such tuning
following the Supplemental Call than was necessary following the end of the
in-orbit performance verification phase.
- From the Observer's point of view, changes may become necessary based on new
information e.g. results from some of the observations in the programme or
from other facilities. For these observer-initiated changes, an e-mail
explaining the changes should be sent to HELPDESK. If necessary, OTAC will
be consulted. Thereafter, any agreed changes will be implemented either by
SOC staff or by the Observer remotely logging in or (exceptionally) by a
visit to a data entry centre.
- From the side of the SOC, changes may also become necessary based on new
information, e.g. a change in the in-orbit performance or in the
understanding of the system. If necessary, OTAC will recommend any
necessary changes to the programme by adjusting the priorities given to
proposals and/or observations. The Principal Investigators of affected
observations will be notified directly about the necessity for these
changes. In case observing parameters have to be changed substantially,
Observers will be contacted by staff of the Science Operations Team.
