Spectrophotometry

The spectrophotometric mode is dedicated to obtaining low resolution spectra of broad spectral features such as dust and polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) features. This mode can also be used for detection of faint atomic or ionic lines, but the intensity will be contained in only 1 or 2 pixels, thus not allowing for the determination of the line profile. For this purpose one should use the SWS instrument (see SWS Observer's Manual). For extended sources spectrophotometry can be performed in a spacecraft raster.
