We have started a project with the scientific goal of determining the physical conditions of star-forming regions.To this end, spectroscopic data have been obtained of a sample of HII regions across the SMC and LMC.
The data set consists of ISO-SWS, ISO-LWS and optical spectroscopic data covering a spectral range fro 0.35 to 198 . This combination of optical and IR data enables us to derive the detailed physical structure of the HII regions. Quantities derived from this structure, e.g. improved chemical abundances of the local ISM and the nature of the excitation source, will provide a link to the star-forming properties of these regions at present.
Presented in the poster are an overview of this project and some first results.
